Introduction

Greetings!

As you can probably guess from the title of this blog, it will be devoted to a library and information science graduate course on knowledge management. My name is Whitney and I'm presently pursuing my masters degree in library and information science at the University of Kentucky. As part of this class I am currently reading The Tacit Dimension by Michael Polanyi (2009) and Communities of Practice: Fostering Peer-to-Peer Learning and Informal Knowledge Sharing in the Work Place by Noriko Hara, along with a whole host of other related empirical research and theoretical review articles. As required by the instructor, I will be posting eleven different blogs throughout the semester (Jan 15 - May 2) each discussing three different articles I have read. Although I hope to post more frequently and continue to use it more in the future past this semester. Whether you're a classmate, or you just happened to stumble upon my blog because of a shared interest in knowledge management, please feel free to comment on my posts or find me on twitter (@Whitnage) to continue the conversation. My first blog post should be up in about five to ten days once I've had a chance to get my bearings and finish The Tacit Dimension & Communities of Practice. If you're unsure of what exactly knowledge management is, then I would refer you to one of the links on the left of your screen under the Academic Resources heading.

If you're not concerned with knowledge management, then you might want to check out my personal blog which is devoted mainly to book reviews, but I occasionally post about library school and other things that strike my fancy.

Have a great day!
